Help is on the way!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 26, 2009 by bobgsmith

We are so excited to be having Hannah Draper & Carl Wittrig coming to spent the summer with us as interns.  Both attend Cincinnati Christian University and will doing the internship as part of their schooling.  What’s really neat is that we have known them both for many years.  We are just excited about the help BUT the quality of people they are.  If you’d like to help them with their support you can just make your check to the Pursuit Christian Church and send it along with a note that the support is for them. dscn0804

Linda and I miss our TPCC family but were to re-connect to the  Pitts family a couple of weeks ago.  I officiated the wedding of their daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Sam, at the Chapel by the Sea, in Captiva Island.  It was a beautiful wedding and setting. dscn0793  Our prayers and love are with these two wonderful young believers.

Weddings are such FUN……..

dscn08101 This is the Jewish Synagogue for the Conservative Jews in Century Village.  Yesterday, it also became the meeting place for The Pursuit at Century Village.

I met with the President of this temple and he gave verbal agreement for us to meet there on a weekly basis.  Time, day and other details are to be determined.  We will rent a portion of their fellowship hall to hold our services.  fscn0819

They have tables, chairs, a coffee pot,   PA system and a keyboard that we can use.   Of course, any food we serve needs to be Kosher.

THIS IS A MAJOR BREAK THROUGH AND WE PRAISE THE GOD OF ISRAEL FOR PROVIDING THE LOCATION!  More details to follow.

Thank you so much for your prayers on our behalf.

Small Victories!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 20, 2009 by bobgsmith

Last Sunday we were privileged to have five Century Village residents at  The Pursuit Services.  One lady, Joan, who sings in one of Linda’s Choirs decided to worship with us.  Another lady is looking for a church for her son to be married in and they have asked me to officiate the wedding.

But the greatest joy for us was that Bill, our poker buddy, came with Linda.  I wrote about Bill before.  Bill is 87 and lost his wife thirty years ago.  He has been mad a t God ever since.  As our relationship has grown, I asked Bill, “Since you have more days behind you than ahead of you, when you die what are  you going to say to God.”  He didn’t give me an answer.

After services last week , Linda asked what he thought.  He said he liked the band.  She said, “ I know that Jesus isn’t your thing but we are glad you came.”   He replied, “Jeus is OK, He is a good Jewish boy you  know!”  Bill plans to come back and this week at poker, he asked another player if they wanted to come.  Or Jewish evangelist!

Small steps for us BUT they may be big steps for some of these folks.
